Applications for our summer 2021 overseas Volunteer Programme are now being accepted.

  • Do you wish to take part in activities that allow you to bring your overseas learning experiences back to communities in Ireland?

If you answered ‘YES’ to these questions, read on to find out why Hope For Orphans Uganda volunteer placement could be for you! Short-term volunteering is a unique opportunity to travel and experience a new culture whilst dedicating your time to worthwhile community development projects.

Placement Information

Where: Kampala, Luwero District, Uganda

Kampala and Luwero is located 6 miles northwest of Uganda’s capital city Kampala along the Kampala – Bombo Road.


3 week placement options

Placement 1: 9th – 30th June (Students only. Please note: Students Teachers wishing to teach in a school in Uganda, must be paired with a fully qualified teacher and therefore MUST apply for Placement 2 or 3 options)

Placement 2: 30th June – 21st July (Open to Students & Professionals) LAST REMAINING PLACESON THIS PLACEMENT

Placement 3: 21st July – 11th August (Open to Students & Professionals)

5 week option

30th June – 4th August (Open to Students & Professionals)

Application Process and Requirements

Volunteer placements are allocated subject to the suitability of the applicant.

You must:

  • Submit an application form.
  • Undergo an interview process.
  • Be willing to submit a completed Garda Vetting form.
  • Attend all pre-departure training sessions.
  • We strongly advise attendance at debriefing and reunion workshop approximately 4 weeks after you return home from your placement.
  • Obtain all required travel vaccinations and anti-malaria drugs before departure.

This is an opportunity to put your energy, enthusiasm and skills to good use for a great cause. It is also important to have realistic expectations about what can be achieved during a short-term volunteering placement. By volunteering with us, you will also learn about the challenges of international development and to better understand the ways in which we are all connected. Come with an open mind, a humble heart and an adventurous spirit and you will gain a new perspective on the world.
